Seeing the name of Officer Rexford C. Wright listed on the Officer Down Memorial Page really struck me today. I can't help but think about the human side behind those memorial posts. It's a stark reminder that behind every name is a person who had dreams, a family, friends, and a community they served. Officer Wright, only 38 years old, seemed to have so much more life to live, and reading about his story makes me reflect on how perilous a career in law enforcement can be. I wonder how his fellow officers and family coped with such a sudden loss all those years ago? It must have been incredibly tough for them. It’s sad to think that the danger is part of their day-to-day reality, and they must constantly be vigilant. My heart goes out to Officer Wright’s loved ones, as well as all those who continue to protect their communities today in his honor.
