A shooting on Simms Place in Northeast Washington, D.C., on March 20, 1994, left Marcus Haynes with severe injuries that he survived but never fully recovered from. For twelve and a half years he lived with the effects of that wound; those complications culminated in his death on December 6, 2006. After his passing the Metropolitan Police Department ruled the death a homicide, linking it to the 1994 shooting.
No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. The case remains an open investigation and the police are asking the public for any information that could help identify who was responsible. If anyone knew Marcus, witnessed the March 1994 shooting, or has information about people who were on Simms Place that day, please come forward.
