James McNeal was shot and killed in Washington, D.C., on April 5, 2007. The fatal shooting occurred at about 1:32 a.m. at 253 V Street NW in the city’s Northwest quadrant. The Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation; the Violent Crimes Branch took the case and detectives sought help from the public.

Authorities offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction, but there have been no public announcements of arrests or identified suspects. The investigation remains open and the department continues to seek tips.
