I recently stumbled upon Officer George Steve Watkins' case, and I can't stop thinking about the courage it must take to be in law enforcement, especially on such a family-centered holiday like Thanksgiving. It’s devastating that such a dedicated officer, who served not just his community, but also his country, had his life cut short so tragically. I find it particularly haunting how Sgt. Clark Boutwell mentioned almost instinctively picking up the phone to reach out to Officer Watkins. It just goes to show the deep bonds these officers form while working together. The loss isn't just felt by his family, but by the entire team who I imagine shared many intense and challenging days together. Has anyone come across any more information on how the department handled the aftermath of this event or any memorials held in Officer Watkins' honor? It's disheartening that a day meant for giving thanks turned into a moment of such sorrow, not just for the officer's family, but for the whole community.
