I recently came across the case of Willie D. Daniels and Jason Dior Showers, and I find myself thinking a lot about the families and friends left behind. Losing someone to violence must be unimaginably painful, and I can only hope the community can rally around them to provide some kind of comfort. I commend the judge for denying youthful offender status in this case. It sends a strong message that the justice system is treating this matter with the gravity it deserves. I hope that this can somehow lead to more peace and less violence in the area, though the road to healing will undoubtedly be long and tough for those directly affected.
