On March 10, 2009, Bruce Wilson Maloy, 51, was shot and killed while driving in Samson, Alabama, one of ten people killed that day in a multi-location shooting across Geneva County. Maloy worked as a welder at a local peanut company and was described by his employer as a free spirit who often wore a smile and liked to tell stories.
The attack was carried out by Michael Kenneth McLendon, who began the rampage by killing his mother and setting fire to their Kinston home, then traveled to Samson where he also killed several relatives including his grandmother, uncle, and two cousins. McLendon fired at motorists as he drove; Maloy was struck during that period. The shooter later died by suicide at a local business, so there was no arrest in connection with these deaths.
If anyone knew Bruce Maloy or has information about his movements in Samson that day, please share what you can.
