I’ve been following the Karen Lee Valdez-Blackburn case for a while, and something that's always bothered me is the timeline of events on the day she vanished. She was assigned to F.E. Warren AFB, so why wouldn't someone alert authorities sooner when she didn't show up in Denver or return on base? It seems odd that it took a whole month before her status was changed, and only then they labeled her a deserter. Doesn't it seem like her friends or colleagues would have noticed something was off before then, especially if she had plans to meet someone in Denver? Anyone familiar with military protocols from that era who can shed some light on how cases like this were typically handled?
