I’ve been following the James Donald Crockett case, and something's been on my mind about the Eldora C and its durability. Crockett was an experienced fisherman and knew his vessel well, so I'm curious about how his boat might have handled in such rough conditions. The Eldora C was a 38-foot fishing boat—does anyone here know what kind of weather conditions a boat like that can typically withstand? Could it have been a mechanical failure that contributed, or is it possible the waves and wind were just too overpowering, even for a boat of that size? Also, if anyone has insights into how frequently similar fishing boats encounter issues in storms on the Chesapeake Bay, I'd love to hear them. It just feels like there might be more to learn about how rough the water really was and how much danger a boat like the Eldora C could reasonably manage.
