Has anyone else been struck by the role of community safety in the aftermath of Jordan Wilson's tragic death? I can't stop thinking about how this incident took place in an apartment complex where residents are supposed to feel secure. It makes me wonder what measures, if any, have been put in place since then to prevent something like this from happening again.
From what I've read, the Virginia Pines apartments didn't have any significant security features back in 2016. After such a violent crime, I hope there have been improvements to ensure tenants' safety. It's unsettling to think that this level of violence can erupt in what should be a safe space for everyone, including families with children.
For the people who called Virginia Pines home around that time, how must they have felt living near the scene of this terrible crime? It’s important for communities to come together to seek improvements and push for any measures that could save a life in the future.
