I can't help but wonder what might have happened if Mary Anne had connected with the right people after leaving her home. The note she left for her mom, "I'm leaving. I might miss you," sounds like a cry for independence but also a sign of uncertainty. It's hard to fathom what a 13-year-old might do in such a situation. I keep thinking about how she might have planned her escape route or if she had somewhere specific in mind to go. Was she meeting someone she trusted who could help her start anew, or did she just take a leap into the unknown? It’s tragic to think if she simply sought a better situation, it might have led her into harm’s way. Does anyone else think she successfully managed to disappear on her own terms, even if just for a while?
I've been fascinated by Mary Anne Wesolowski's case for a while now, specifically the fact that she left a note saying, "I'm leaving. I might miss you." That line has always struck me as particularly intriguing. It makes me think she planned to come back after some time away to clear her head or escape from whatever was troubling her in Glens Falls. Teens often say things they don't fully mean, but with everything her brother said about home life, could she have intended to contact her family later on but something went wrong?
Since her Social Security number shows no activity, it does make me wonder if she intended to start fresh elsewhere, but something stopped her. I'm also curious about how much attention authorities initially gave to her letter and whether they fully considered the various angles, like those who may have helped her leave or if she ended up in a dangerous situation unintentionally.
Anyone else have thoughts on the significance of that note and what it was trying to convey?
