I’ve been following Mont Highley's case closely and something that really sticks with me is the involvement of the scent dogs. It’s baffling that they could trace Mont’s scent from the Highley farm to the Segrest camp and then across County Road 30, only for it to vanish. It’s like his trail just ended abruptly, which adds to the mystery of how he ultimately ended up in that unused grain silo.
I wonder how reliable scent tracking is in these sorts of conditions and what might have caused the trail to stop so suddenly. Could weather or contamination have played a role? It’s just another piece in this perplexing puzzle that Mont's family deserves answers to. The tenacity and commitment of his folks, especially Dr. Highley’s determination, is truly inspiring. I really hope they get the closure they need soon. Anyone with any knowledge must come forward to help the investigation and provide the Highleys with answers to their many questions.

I've been thinking a lot about the use of scent-specific tracking dogs in Mont Highley's case. Isn't it interesting how they were able to pick up Mont's scent from his family's farm to the Segrest family camp and then across County Road 30, but eventually lost it? It must have been incredibly disheartening for everyone involved when the trail went cold. I wonder if there were any environmental factors that might have contributed to the scent loss, like heavy rain or strong winds, or perhaps even interference from other human activity in the area? Does anyone here have experience with SAR operations and can shed light on how these factors might have impacted the search?
The involvement of volunteer searchers and the use of various locations must have presented quite a challenge. I imagine the sheer scale of the area and multiple locations involved in the search could complicate things, especially with the unused grain silo being on private property not initially prioritized. I've been following Mont Highley's case for a while, and something that really sticks out to me is how eerie and unsettling the circumstances at the grain silo are. It's baffling that Mont's body was discovered there after extensive searches supposedly took place early on. It makes me wonder about the thoroughness of those initial searches and whether certain areas were overlooked. The fact that some neighbors insist his body wasn't initially there adds another layer of mystery to the situation.
Does anyone else find it odd that, despite the different versions of who discovered Mont's body, there seems to be such uncertainty surrounding how and when it ended up in the silo? Also, the idea that his body was left with the folded pants on top is particularly perplexing—could it have some sort of meaning or is it just another piece of this very puzzling puzzle?
