Hi everyone, I recently came across Cathleen Dennis's case and something that stands out to me is how little attention was initially given to all the women disappearing from the sex work scene in Grand Rapids during the 90s. I understand that the lifestyle can put people at risk, but it doesn’t lessen the tragedy or the need for justice. It baffles me that, even with multiple women going missing, these cases stayed cold for so long. It's chilling to think about how many years her case went unsolved and the possibility that more recent developments might never have emerged if not for Garry Artman’s confession. How many other cases like this might remain hidden due to stigmatization? It makes me wonder if there are more unsolved cases lumped together from the same period involving women in high-risk situations. Their lives mattered just as much as anyone else’s. It's so important for all unsolved cases to be revisited, especially when patterns are involved. Does anybody know more about the dynamics between local law enforcement and these kinds of cases at the time? Did they ever reach out to the community or put any effort into connecting the dots back then?
