I've been thinking a lot about the role of that inmate's testimony in bringing charges against Garrett in 2003. It's a tough situation because, on one hand, inmate testimonies can be unreliable due to possible motives to lie, such as reducing their own sentences. But in this case, it pushed the investigation forward when it had been stagnant for so long.
Does anyone else have thoughts on how much weight should be given to these kinds of testimonies? It must be incredibly frustrating for Timothy's family not to have closure despite the conviction. If Garrett indeed confessed to this inmate, why not reveal Timothy's whereabouts? The plea without full disclosure just doesn't sit right with me. I'd love to hear what others think about the use of inmate testimonies in cases like this.
Has anyone else ever wondered about the security measures at the Lafayette High Rise Apartment Complex back in 1992? I’ve been thinking about how Timothy could just vanish without any solid leads or immediate witnesses. Was there any surveillance footage that could have helped? I understand technology wasn't as advanced back then, but a seven-year-old disappearing from a building in daylight seems like there should have been something or someone that noticed. I’m also curious about the layout of the building—were there multiple exits or ways a child could slip away unnoticed? I'm hoping someone familiar with the area might have some insights.
