Hey everyone, I've been following Rachael's case pretty closely and wanted to bring up the issue that keeps gnawing at me—the perplexing gap in police action after Rachael reported the stalking incidents. I mean, it's just wild that she made multiple reports about being harassed and even feared for her life, and yet, she wasn't provided any additional protection. It's almost as if any official intervention was too little, too late.
I understand it's easy to point fingers with hindsight, but knowing there were reports of broken windshields and slashed tires makes me wonder what it might have taken to get a more immediate reaction from law enforcement. I can't help but think that some sort of surveillance or even a protection order might have made a difference here, especially with what we know now about Capone's behavior.
If anyone knows more about police procedures in stalking cases back in 2010, I'd love to hear your thoughts on what measures could or should have been taken. Perhaps it could be useful for any future cases that involve similar circumstances.
Does anyone else find it odd that the GMC Yukon was left in Lewiston so close to the Greyhound bus station? It's like someone wanted people to believe Rachael might have taken a bus out of town. But why leave her purse and cell phone inside the vehicle? If she intended to disappear on her own, wouldn't she have taken those essential items with her? Maybe someone wanted to make it look like she just up and left without a trace. It makes me wonder about the mindset of the person who parked it there. It's like they were trying to create a diversion, hoping investigators would assume Rachael left willingly.
