Hey everyone, I've been digging into the De Mattos and Pacheco case from 1965, and I'm really puzzled by the lack of leads regarding Albert's 1957 Pontiac. It seems odd that a car of that size just vanished without a trace. Has anyone heard if there were any auto theft rings or major car crimes happening around Honolulu during that time? It's also baffling that with such a distinctive color, it wasn't spotted more easily.
Considering the car was supposedly seen at a Sears a month later, I've been wondering whether it was just an isolated sighting, or maybe they did drive somewhere longer distance after all? Would love to hear any theories or info on similar cases with missing vehicles. It's like the disappearance of the couple and the car are pieces of a puzzle that just never come together.
Has anyone delved into the financial angle of Albert A. De Mattos's disappearance? It's intriguing that he was expecting a significant amount from the sale of an apartment building but never accessed those funds. Could it be possible that someone gained knowledge of his financial situation and had a motive? Also, with De Mattos carrying $700 to $800 in cash, it seems risky for that period, especially without accessing any bank accounts afterward. Maybe someone knew about the cash he carried that day? I can't shake off the feeling that there’s more to unravel in their financial dealings. Anyone have insight or thoughts on this aspect?
