Anthony Lynn Williford was shot in Washington, D.C., on Friday, February 25, 2011, at approximately 11:57 a.m. The shooting occurred in the 2300 block of Good Hope Road, SE. He was taken to a local hospital but died of his wounds that same day; the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch classified the death as a homicide and opened an investigation.

In the days after the killing police asked the public for help and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. No arrests or suspects have been publicly announced, and the investigation remains active. An online obituary remembers him as a devoted family man who often spoke of his children and grandchildren.
