Anyone else find it odd that it took so long for the witness to come forward with details about Rocky Lane Taylor's relationship with Michael Lewis Akins? I get that fear or confusion might keep someone silent initially, but decades? It’s not clear when they received this tip, but I can't help but wonder how the case might have panned out differently if they'd spoken up sooner. I suppose it's irrelevant now with Akins having passed away, but it just seems like such a long time to hold onto information that could have cracked the case wide open much earlier. Would love to hear your thoughts on how witnesses in these cold cases decide when to come forward.
It's incredible how these cases can take decades to reach some sort of resolution. I can't help but wonder about the initial investigation back in '88. Do you think they could've done more at the time when the body was found? I understand the limitations of technology back then, but three shotgun shells and the description of their relationship... it feels like there might have been something more to explore even then. Also, does anyone know if Akins was ever questioned or on law enforcement's radar back in the day? Feels like that might have been a key piece that took too long to unlock.
