Hey everyone, I was thinking about the unsolved case of Kathy Rigsby Portelli and wanted to get your thoughts. There's something about her religious upbringing that keeps nagging at me. Her family said she once wanted to become a minister, which makes me wonder if her faith played any role in her disappearance or the events leading up to it. Did she reach out to anyone from her church community during her struggles, or did she perhaps seek refuge or guidance from some religious group that's flown under the radar? People in crisis sometimes turn to their past beliefs for support or a way out. Also, does anyone know if investigators ever looked into individuals or organizations she may have interacted with on a spiritual level? Curious to hear what y'all think about this angle.
Did anyone else find it odd about the guy who picked up Kathy's pager? It seemed shady to me that he refused to provide more information. If he genuinely found it, why not just help out her family a little? The fact that he had it meant he had some connection to where Kathy had been before she went missing. Also wondering if more could've been done to trace that call back then. With pagers being huge in the 90s, there might have been ways to figure out who this person really was or where they were calling from. It's frustrating that such potential leads go cold. What do you all think—missed opportunity by the investigators, or just a dead end?
