Hello everyone,
I've been following the case of Stephen Skylar Stewart, and I just can't get the thought of his family out of my mind. I came across some recent footage of a vigil held in his memory, which took place in their local park—an area Stephen loved and where he often played basketball with friends. Watching the community come together to remember him was both moving and heartbreaking.
You could see the outpouring of love from his friends, teachers, and family members, sharing stories about his infectious smile and his love for sports. Such a young person with so much to offer the world, it's really difficult to wrap your head around the senselessness of it all.
I can't even begin to imagine the pain his family is going through. For those who knew him, they see the empty chair at the dinner table, a reminder of his absence. I hope they find some solace in knowing how deeply he touched the lives of those around him.
It's incredible how a community can unite in the face of such sadness, and I hope it helps highlight the urgent need for change regarding youth violence. Let's keep his family in our thoughts and continue to push for ways to make our communities safer for young people.
Thank you for listening.
