R'Artagnon Jose White, known as Rock, was 34 when he was found with a gunshot wound on September 13, 2012, in the 5100 block of 7th Street NE in Washington, D.C. Emergency responders took him to care, but he died of his injuries and the death was ruled a homicide. An obituary ran in The Washington Post and friends and family remembered him by his nickname.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch opened an investigation, canvassing the neighborhood and seeking witnesses. The department offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction, but as of the latest account no arrests or suspects have been publicly identified and the case remains unsolved.
