I’ve been thinking a lot about the case of Mary Helen Esquibel and something that's been bugging me is the dual last name scenario. It's such a simple detail, but using both Esquibel and Gonzalez could have made a big impact on the search back then—especially if someone only knew her by one of those names. It's frustrating to think that a lead might have slipped through the cracks because of a name discrepancy. Does anyone here have ideas on how these situations are handled nowadays? Are there protocols in place now for cross-referencing or updating databases when someone might use an alias or different last name? Just hoping advancements since 2004 could give us some insight into what might have been missed in Mary's case.
