So, I've been diving into the Charles Wilding case, and one thing that's bugging me is the neighbors' role in the whole situation. I mean, it sounds like they were the ones who first raised concerns about his whereabouts, but then how did they buy into Caroline Herrling's story so easily? I get it, she had documents and all that, but isn’t it strange that no one thought to dig deeper right away when he was such a fixture in the neighborhood? It's tragic that someone could just literally vanish like that without anyone catching on until much later. Thoughts on how these scams might be getting by unsuspecting communities? Or maybe tips on what neighbors could do to avoid being duped in such situations? This all seems crazy to me.
Does anyone know about the timeline of when Caroline Herrling actually moved into Charles Wilding's home? I mean, how long after he went "missing" did she start living there? It's so eerie to think about how someone could just take over a person's life like that, especially if it really started soon after people lost contact with him. With such blatant lies about his whereabouts, did any of the neighbors ever try to contact Charles by phone or anything? Just curious how convincing she must have been, or if there were any red flags for people who knew him better.
