I was really struck by how quickly the community came together after Christopher Lewis's tragic passing. The Morning Star Baptist Church was packed during his funeral service, and it was a powerful testament to how beloved he was. Friends, family, and even people who didn't know him personally showed up to pay their respects and support his loved ones. It’s difficult to see a community go through such pain, but there was a sense of solidarity and determination that seemed to rise from the tragedy. I commend the city officials for imposing a curfew even though it was a tough decision. I believe it showed their commitment to preventing further violence, which was incredibly important given how tense things were after the retaliatory shooting that took Shaquille Martin’s life. It won't bring Christopher back, but it's a step towards ensuring more young lives aren't lost senselessly. My thoughts are with both families and the entire Marion community as they navigate this challenging time. ?️
