Has anyone else found the whole timeline of when Brian's remains were found versus when they were identified to be strange? I mean, his remains were discovered in 1987, but it took until 2024 for them to be identified. That's a 37-year gap, and his family had submitted dental and DNA info. I understand technology has evolved, but it makes me wonder how many other cases are sitting unsolved simply because they haven't been re-evaluated with new techniques. It's relieving they finally got answers, but why took so long? Could there have been some sort of oversight that delayed identification?

I came across this case recently and something stood out to me. I find it puzzling that despite the remains being found in 1987, it took until 2024 to officially identify them as Brian Keith Montel. The advancements in forensic technology over the years should've expedited this process, right? Were there other unidentified findings around that time in Yosemite that could have caused a mix-up or delay in testing his case further? It's baffling that with available dental and DNA evidence, it took that long to connect the dots. Makes me wonder how many other families are going through a similar situation, waiting decades for answers. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone familiar with cold case procedures or similar cases!
