I’ve been following Seble Mariam Abate Menkir's case closely and something that intrigues me is her reported possible sightings in Tijuana during the summer of 2015. I’m curious about how often migrants and people in vulnerable situations might cross that border without leaving much of a trace. It’s not far from San Diego, and I can imagine someone trying to find new opportunities or avoiding certain situations might head there. But why have there been no verified sightings? If anyone has more information about how these unconfirmed reports came about, or any theories on why Tijuana might have been a destination, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
