Hey all, I've been digging into Mary Jo Lee Long's case and found something that's bothering me. It's baffling that it took seven years for a missing person report to be filed. I get that her parents were in different states and maybe not in agreement, but what was going on during those years? Was no one from her school, like teachers or friends, noticing her extended absence? Seems like someone should have raised a flag or asked questions. I wonder if her brief holiday trip to Minnesota played a role in the delay. It feels like such a crucial time was lost. If anyone has insights on how these cases were typically handled back then, or knows someone who might have gone to Gardena High around that time, please share!
Hey everyone, I’ve been digging into Mary Jo Lee Long’s case and something intriguing just dawned on me. The fact that Mary Jo was reported missing only in 1988, seven whole years after she disappeared, keeps gnawing at me. What's been on my mind is how this delay might have impacted her peers, especially those she might have connected with at Gardena High School.
Back then, school environments weren't as interconnected as today, but surely someone must have noticed her absence. It makes me wonder if anyone from her class or teachers ever tried to reach out, or if they too were kept in the dark. Given that she moved there against her mom's wishes, perhaps she didn’t have a solid support network in California. Did anyone even question why she suddenly vanished from school? It's these questions that keep me hoping someone might recall or recognize something – even if it’s decades later, it could be the key to reopening discussions and encouraging those who might have thought it was "none of their business" to speak up now. Thoughts?
