Hi everyone, Has anyone else looked into the weather conditions around Avalon Harbor on the day David Jines went missing? I’ve been trying to understand what might have happened during his journey back to his sailboat. October can sometimes bring unexpected changes in the Pacific, and I'm curious if there were any unusual ocean or weather patterns recorded around that time. ? Could a sudden squall have caught him off guard? If anyone has any insights or knows where I might find historical weather data for that area, I'd appreciate the guidance. It might give us a clue about what could have happened that day. Also, if there's any information on other cases of small watercraft accidents in that area, it could be helpful to piece together more of this puzzle. Thoughts? Thanks!

I recently came across a missing persons case that left me feeling puzzled and curious about some details, so I thought I'd share in case anyone else has insights or similar thoughts. David Jines vanished after leaving Avalon Harbor on October 27, 2009. What stands out to me is the skiff he was using that day. From what I've read, it was a twelve-foot motorized skiff. I find myself wondering about the skiff's condition and reliability. Was it known to have any mechanical issues, or was it seaworthy enough for the trip back to his sailboat? I'm thinking there could have been some malfunction or unexpected event during the journey. There's also the weight of knowing the Coast Guard helicopter searching for David had such a tragic accident shortly after. It makes me question if perhaps more comradery and communication among those in the boating community on Catalina Island could have helped in David's search. Was there a local response, or did it largely rely on official rescue operations? It's a haunting case, and any new angles or thoughts might help bring clarity to what might have happened to David.
