Wesley West, 25, was fatally shot in the early morning of Saturday, July 18, 2015, in the 3400 block of 13th Place, SE, Washington, D.C. Officers arrived at about 12:56 a.m. and found West with an apparent gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital and later died. He lived in Southeast D.C.

Known to some as the baby of the family, West was a father to a two-month-old son and was described as actively working to better his life and community. He’d been involved with Peaceoholics, mediating conflicts among youth, and had recently been pursuing a contractor’s license to provide for his family. His death was one of three fatal overnight shootings that weekend and contributed to a rise in homicides in the 7th Police District that year.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking the public for information and has offered up to a $25,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest and conviction. If anyone knew Wesley or has information about what happened that night, please come forward.
