Has anyone looked into the possibility that Joe might have tried to reach out to people from his past after moving to San Diego? I was thinking maybe he tried to reconnect with someone but something went wrong. If he was in a new city with few connections, perhaps he would have reached out to old friends either in Seattle or even Juneau. I've seen that happen in other cases, where someone initially enjoys their new start but then desperately misses their old life and tries to return to it. It might be worth looking into any old acquaintances who might have seen or heard from him around that time. Just thinking out loud here. Has anyone else thought about this angle?
