Has anyone else been thinking about the role of the bodyboard in Pegye Bechler's case? It's such a small detail, but Eric's story about being knocked off it by a rogue wave seems off to me. Newport Beach can have rough waves, sure, but something about it makes me question how plausible it is. Plus, if he fell off the bodyboard, what happened to it afterwards? Was it recovered during the Coast Guard's search? I'm curious if any of you who follow water sports or are familiar with that area think it's likely the currents would have just swept it away, or if it should have been found nearby when they conducted their search. Just a nagging thought that might add another layer of suspicion around Eric's account of that tragic day.
