On the evening of September 19, 2015, police were called to an apartment in the 300 block of Delafield Place NW in Northwest Washington after a neighbor reported loud noises, footsteps and a door slamming. The neighbor found 43-year-old Medina Michelle Thornton unconscious on the floor near her front door with significant injuries and she was taken to a hospital.
Thornton battled for months but died on April 3, 2016, from complications of blunt force trauma to the head. The D.C. Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide. Investigators recovered several items at the scene, including a pipe wrench, but no arrests have been announced and the case remains open.
If anyone has information about what happened in that Delafield Place apartment on September 19, 2015, please contact the investigators handling the case.
