I'm curious about the scent trail the search dogs picked up that led to the Parks Highway. Dogs are usually pretty good at tracking, so it’s puzzling that the trail ended so abruptly there. It makes me wonder if David might have gotten a ride with someone unknowingly. I know that corner of Alaska wasn’t very densely populated back then, but there's always some traffic on a highway. It’s also strange that there wasn’t any evidence of him falling into the river, especially since they mentioned searching for holes in the ice. I’m not ruling anything out, but part of me leans towards someone potentially picking him up. Could it be possible that the timeliness and abruptness with which this trail ended suggest David might have willingly or unwillingly gotten into a vehicle? I think it may be worth revisiting any truckers or locals who frequented that stretch of highway back then, even though that's a long time ago now. I hope his family eventually gets some answers. It's been far too long with no new developments.
