I keep coming back to the abandoned coal mines theory when I think about Carolyn Elizabeth Lawson's case. It's always struck me as a plausible explanation, especially considering Jerry Bland's connections in the mining industry. He would know those areas well, maybe even having access to parts that aren't easily reachable by others. Has anyone ever looked into which specific mines were operational in the early '90s that Bland might have had access to? Local records or any way to check old employee access logs might shed some light if they haven't decayed away by now. It's frustrating to think a potential clue could be hiding in plain sight or buried under decades of overgrowth.
Has anyone else looked into the significance of Carolyn's Ford Explorer being found in Winston County? I know the area where it was abandoned is fairly remote and might be a place Jerry Bland was familiar with due to his work connections. It's just odd to me that after such a meticulously planned kidnapping, they would leave such an important piece of evidence out in the open. Could it have been a diversion tactic or was it simply abandoned in a panic? Also, considering Bland's connections in the coal mining industry, does anyone think the location of the car points to a specific area in or near those mines? It seems like the placement of that car could potentially hold clues to where Carolyn might have ended up. Would love to hear others' thoughts on this part of the case!
