I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of these tragedies on the families involved. Officer Tokuoka and Sergeant Wallace weren’t just officers; they were integral parts of their community, cherished by their loved ones. Imagining the pain their families must have felt is overwhelming. Officer Tokuoka, a husband and father of four, left behind a legacy of courage and dedication. The city of Hoonah’s decision to honor their memory annually shows the profound mark they left on the community. It's a small comfort, but these gestures ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten. How do you think communities can better support the families of fallen officers in situations like this?
