Does anyone have experience with cases where the missing person was out of contact with family for a while before being reported missing? I'm curious about how law enforcement decides which department takes the lead. In Wajdy’s case, it seems like Bridgeview PD in Illinois is handling it, even though he vanished in LA. I guess there's family back in Illinois, but it still seems like a tricky jurisdictional issue. How common is this kind of arrangement, and does it affect the investigation's progress? Any insights would be appreciated!
