Has anyone looked into the ocean conditions around Makapuu Beach on the day Stephen went missing? I’m curious if there was anything significant about the surf or weather that might give us more context about his disappearance. It’s well known how intense the waves and currents can get in that area, and if he had ventured into the water, it could have presented a real danger, even if he was a strong swimmer. I’m not saying this is what happened, but understanding the environmental conditions might offer some clues or help eliminate possibilities. If anyone has any old weather reports or remembers anything unusual about that day, it would be interesting to hear!
I’ve been going down the rabbit hole with Stephen B. Kennedy's case and one thing that's been sticking with me is the location itself—Makapuu Beach Park. I used to live on Oahu, and let me tell you, the waves there can be brutal. The strong shore-break waves and currents can take you by surprise even on a seemingly calm day. I remember hearing stories growing up about how dangerous the waters could be around that spot, especially if you're not constantly vigilant.
I can't stop thinking about how treacherous the area can be and whether the intense currents could've played a role in Stephen's disappearance. It's unsettling because, with the cliffs and rugged terrain around there, someone could easily slip or get caught in a riptide. But then again, wouldn't something have washed ashore, or wouldn't he have been spotted struggling by someone nearby?
It's just so perplexing to me that his friends didn’t see where he went, especially at a place that's known for both its beauty and its dangers. It seems like this location holds quite a few secrets, and it makes me wonder what really happened that day. If anyone has insights or personal experiences with Makapuu, especially during the 70s, it’d be interesting to hear your thoughts.
