Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about Richard Oldfield’s disappearance and something just doesn’t sit right with me. Has anyone else spent time looking into the weather during that period? I came across an old weather report from early October 1968, and it seems like there was a significant cold front that came in, likely causing that snow and precipitation mentioned in the search efforts.
I’m wondering if this unexpected weather could’ve caught Richard off guard, especially considering it was a solo hike. Maybe he wasn’t equipped for such conditions? It makes me think about how quickly plans can change out there in the wilderness when the weather takes a turn. Did anyone else find any specifics on the temperatures or additional weather challenges around that time? Could be a piece of the puzzle regarding why the search was so difficult. Any input would be helpful!
