Has anyone else been following the aftermath of TJ Moore's tragic death? I keep thinking about the impact this has had on his community, especially his teammates and coaches from the Huffman youth football league. It breaks my heart to think that a little boy who brought so much joy and energy to the field is gone because of something so senseless. His coach called him the "heart and soul" of their defense, which tells us just how special and loved he was by those around him. I can't imagine the sorrow they must be feeling, not to mention his family. I hope that this tragedy brings more attention to the need for conflict resolution and gun safety education. It's the least we can do to honor TJ's memory and try to prevent something like this from happening again.
I can't stop thinking about the impact on the children who were around TJ. Losing a friend and classmate in such a traumatic way can be incredibly confusing and frightening for young kids. It's important to ensure that they’re getting the support and counseling they need to process this tragedy. I hope the school is providing resources to help his classmates deal with their grief and understand what happened. These kids deserve a chance to feel safe again and to remember TJ for the joy he brought into their lives, not only the tragedy. It’s such a devastating loss, and my heart goes out to them and to TJ’s family during this unimaginable time.
