Just finished reading about Michael Ledale Scott’s tragic murder, and something that sticks out to me is the use of the ShotSpotter technology. It’s such a critical tool that alerted authorities so quickly to the gunfire, yet it feels like even with all this tech, justice can still feel so far away. My heart goes out to his family and friends—cannot begin to comprehend their loss. I think it's crucial we talk about how technology can help in prevention or quicker resolutions. Even though it sent police to the scene fast, maybe there's more we could explore to prevent these kinds of tragedies from unfolding in the first place. How can we complement ShotSpotter with community action? Birmingham is hurting, and I hope we can find answers that both honor Michael's memory and keep others safe. If anyone has thoughts on this, I'm all ears. Stay safe out there, everyone.
