I'm really curious about how effective the centralized database maintained by the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit is in these cases. I mean, they have this wealth of information at their fingertips, right? But how often are they able to actually match a missing person with unidentified remains? And do other states use similar systems or is New Jersey kind of unique with this approach? Not saying that Dunham's case involves unidentified remains, just thinking out loud about how these systems work behind the scenes. Anyone have insights or know how often these databases help solve cases?
I saw a discussion on another forum about Daiquon Dunham's case, and it got me thinking about the impact of the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit. Established back in 1984, they’ve been pivotal in addressing missing person cases statewide. They’ve got this massive database that centralizes all missing and unidentified person reports, which must be crucial for investigations like Daiquon's. It’s impressive that they not only handle such reports but also coordinate Amber Alerts and other resources. I wonder how much support smaller local law enforcement agencies get from them, and if this centralized system actually leads to faster and more efficient resolutions in cases like his. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who’s familiar with how these units operate from the inside.
