Hey everyone, I've been following the Merlin Pineda case, and something that's been on my mind is the school’s role in all of this. I'm curious about how they handle attendance alerts. Can anyone shed some light on whether it's normal for schools to only send these notifications hours after a child is supposed to be in class? I understand that schools have procedures, but in a situation like this where every minute counts, it seems like there should be a more immediate alert system. Also, do schools typically have any responsibility to notify authorities if a child doesn’t show up, especially if they've been dropped off nearby? I wonder if minor changes in policies could help in future situations. Just makes you think about how many things could have been done differently to prevent such a terrifying situation. Curious to hear everyone else's thoughts.
