I can't stop thinking about how interconnected and supportive the Milwaukee community seems to be, even in the wake of such a devastating incident. Eric Williams clearly made an impact, not just on his family, but on his neighbors and community leaders like Andre Ellis, who have nothing but kind words for him. Eric's tragic death and the injury of his son "Doobie" hit so close to home – literally and figuratively.
It breaks my heart, especially hearing about how Eric's older brother Kevin also lost his life to violence nearby. It's unimaginable for one family to go through so much pain. It makes me wonder about the ripple effects these tragedies have beyond just the immediate family, touching neighbors like Carla Weston and others who've watched this unfold, feeling powerless yet bonded in their grief and hope for change.
I really hope the efforts by the Office of Violence Prevention spark some real change. Communities like Milwaukee deserve to live and thrive without fear. Sending love to Eric's family and everyone affected during this incredibly tough time. ?
