I recently came across John Raymond Herse’s case, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how difficult it must have been—and still is—for his loved ones. It’s unimaginable to think of what his family went through that night, out for what seemed like a normal dinner and walk back to their hotel, only to face such a sudden and senseless act of violence. The details about the suspects really struck me; it’s hard to imagine someone going through life with something so dark in their past. How do you reconcile that, if you were even remotely connected to or know the people involved? I really hope that those keeping John and his family in their thoughts might help keep this case alive. Even after all these years, a fresh perspective or an overlooked detail might be exactly what investigators need to finally bring closure.
