I've been thinking about Steven J. Kroll ever since I stumbled onto this case. It just breaks my heart to imagine what his family has had to endure for all these years without closure. Given how carefully the crime seems to have been executed—disposing his body parts in two trash bags and a box, out in a remote stretch off U.S. Route 211—it leads me to wonder if this was someone who knew him. Maybe someone thought they could hide the crime by choosing such a secluded location. I read that law enforcement hasn't been able to pinpoint any specific suspects or leads, which must be incredibly frustrating for everyone involved. I hope that all the public attention, even after so many years, can be a pressure point to bring new information forward. If anyone out there remembers seeing something, no matter how trivial it might seem, it's never too late to share. Sending love and strength to Steven’s family. ?

Does anyone else find it curious how calculated the disposal seemed in Steven J. Kroll’s case? The decision to put his remains in green trash bags and a cardboard box strikes me as carefully thought out, not something done in a panic. It makes me wonder if the perpetrator was familiar with the area or had connections there. Leaving the body just off U.S. Route 211 also suggests someone who knew that spot wouldn’t be heavily trafficked at certain times. The choice of containers might have been to blend in, maybe hoping they wouldn’t look out of place if spotted from a distance. It’s horrifying to think someone could plan so meticulously to hide such a horrific act. My thoughts go out to Steven’s family and friends, who have waited so long for answers and justice. Anyone else have thoughts on the possible connections this killer might have had to Luray?

Hey everyone, I was thinking about the unsolved case of Steven J. Kroll from back in '88—it’s truly gut-wrenching to think about what his loved ones have been through all these years without answers. Something that really sticks out to me is the location where his remains were found. U.S. Route 211 in Luray, Virginia, is such a remote area. Does anyone else find it odd that whoever did this chose that specific spot to dispose of his body? It seems almost calculated, like they knew it wouldn’t be easily discovered and might buy them some time. Also, considering it was a VDOT worker who stumbled upon the remains, I wonder if the perpetrator was local or had knowledge of the area's traffic patterns and public works schedules. Maybe they assumed it wouldn’t be frequently patrolled or cleaned up. It really makes me wonder if they’d been there before. I’m hoping that advancements in technology or DNA might eventually provide some answers. Steven deserves justice, and his family deserves peace. Let’s keep discussing and putting pressure on this case—I truly believe even the smallest detail could help solve it. -Lisa
