It's so hard to fathom what Cheri Jo Bates' family must have gone through all these years, living with so many unanswered questions. One aspect that keeps gnawing at me is the letters supposedly sent by her killer. The sinister nature of writing to taunt the police and community is too chilling to ignore. It seems that whoever was behind them really wanted to frighten or manipulate everyone involved, almost as if causing additional harm was part of the thrill. The content of those letters might hold clues—not only in what was said but in what wasn't. Were there linguistic patterns or specific phrases used that could point to a particular region or type of person? It's frustrating how the connection to the Zodiac Killer makes everything so much murkier, but what if the letters were a red herring, trying to associate the murder with another serial killer just to throw everyone off? More than anything, I just hope these cold cases see some resolution one day. The thought of Cheri and others like her never receiving justice is just unbearable.
