Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading through some old cases, and Ed Allen’s story struck me. For anyone who hasn't heard, he was a 39-year-old from Houston who lost his life on May 16, 2016, during a particularly violent year in the city. What’s really puzzling about Ed's case is the lack of information on suspects despite HPD’s efforts.
One question I have is how effective these additional resources and patrols were in engaging the community back then. Were there any particular community outreach programs or initiatives aimed at fostering cooperation between the police and residents? I feel like without that trust and partnership, it must've been incredibly tough for detectives to gather any actionable intel.
RIP Ed Allen. It's been years, but I hope someday there’s closure for his family and friends. If anyone knows more about how community engagement played a role in other cases that year, I’d love to hear your insights. Let’s keep discussing and reminding people of Ed's story until justice is served. Stay safe, y’all.
