I was thinking about the role Hurricane Harvey might have played in Aluxes's case and how unbelievably difficult and frustrating this must be for her family. Imagine trying to navigate such an immense personal tragedy while the entire city is grappling with a natural disaster. It's heartbreaking that this catastrophic event likely slowed down the investigation and shifted focus away from their urgent need for answers.
There are so many emotions involved here, especially knowing that surveillance footage exists but hasn't led to any significant breakthroughs. Houston was under a lot of stress at the time, but it's disheartening that those moments of chaos might have overshadowed justice for Aluxes and her family. I hope people who might know something come forward. Everyone deserves answers, and her family shouldn't have to keep living in limbo.
Was anyone else struck by how the timing of Hurricane Harvey seemed to overshadow Aluxes Mares’s case? I can’t imagine how painful it must have been for her family to deal with such a loss, only to see their search for answers stalled by a natural disaster. Typically, when a crime happens, especially something as shocking as a shooting outside a crowded restaurant, you'd expect the investigation to receive a lot of focus. But with the hurricane hitting just days later, it’s heartbreaking to think how police resources were stretched thin.
It’s almost as if Aluxes got lost in the chaos of Harvey, and the momentum to catch her shooters just came to a halt. No family should have to wait years for justice, especially under these circumstances. It’s been more than six years now, and I really feel for her loved ones who are still seeking closure. If anyone remembers anything from that night, even the smallest detail, it could be what they need to find some answers. Here's hoping that justice will be done for Aluxes and her family soon.
