Has anyone else looked into the specifics of Gene's silver 1978 Ford pickup, especially the vanity plate "GENE-44"? It just stood out to me as something unique that might have caught someone's eye back then. I wonder if the plates were spotted anywhere else before the truck turned up at the rest area. It's curious that such a distinctive plate didn’t lead to more sightings. If he had been heading to Botetourt County, you’d think someone along the way would have remembered it, considering how memorable personalized plates can be. I can’t help but think, with a plate like that, someone must’ve noticed something before it was abandoned. What are everyone else's thoughts on this angle?
