I've been following David Tate's case for a while now, and something that's been on my mind is the role of community involvement in these cold cases. We often read how the SFPD is urging the public to come forward with any information, no matter how small. But I wonder how effective these appeals really are. Has anyone seen any success stories where a lead from the community significantly changed the direction of an investigation? It seems like in the case of David Tate and many others, community tips could be crucial, yet we hear so little about any actual results. It must be incredibly frustrating for families to know there's a chance someone out there holds a piece of the puzzle, yet no one steps forward. Anyone else have thoughts or experiences with community involvement actually helping in cold cases?
Has anyone else looked into the efforts that the San Francisco Police Department's Cold Case Unit is making in other unresolved cases? I've been following David Tate's disappearance for a while, and I'm curious about how they utilize modern forensic technologies. Do they actually see results with DNA analysis in these old cases? Given that it's been over a decade since David went missing, it would be interesting to know if there have been any breakthroughs in similar cases that might provide some hope. If anyone has insights into how these cold cases are integrated with newer technologies, I'd love to hear more about it!
