I've been thinking a lot about the time gap between Elizabeth's disappearance and when her remains were finally identified. It's just so difficult to understand how a young woman could be missing for over thirty years without her family or friends having answers. I can't even begin to imagine what her loved ones went through during that time, holding onto hope yet facing such uncertainty. It's almost as if she vanished without a trace, only to be found so far away from home. The advancement in DNA technology has undoubtedly been a blessing in providing some closure to her family, but it's bittersweet knowing it took so long. It's a stark reminder to never give up on cold cases—there may still be hope for answers and justice, no matter how many years have passed.

Reading about Elizabeth Lamotte's case, I couldn't help but be struck by the cruel irony of her story—the fact that after leaving a youth development center to presumably start a new chapter, she vanished so soon after. I keep thinking about what might have led her to leave the center; was it just youthful rebellion, or was there something more pressing that led her down that path? It’s devastating that what was potentially a bid for freedom ended with her life cut so tragically short. Her case reminds me of how vulnerable young people can be, especially when they feel isolated or trapped in situations they can't control. It's almost unbearable to think about what she might have endured before her life was taken. It makes me wonder if someone she met during her travels could have been involved, someone she might have trusted in her most vulnerable moments. Cases like these make you wish you could turn back time to steer them towards better circumstances or safer choices. My heart goes out to her family. After all these years, they finally got confirmation of their worst fears but are still left without answers. It's a harsh reminder of how complex and far-reaching some of these cases are, spanning states and decades. I'm holding onto hope that by keeping Elizabeth’s story alive, someone, somewhere might remember something that could finally solve this mystery and bring some peace to those who loved her.
